eSommelier Maintenance
From Page 21 of the Users Guide
This section allows you to configure various parameters and perform routine maintenance on your eSommelier system. To access the Maintenance area, return to the eSommelier home screen and touch the Maintenance button. You'll be shown a set of maintenance options across the top menu row:
Update
This panel displays the serial number of your eSommelier, its current software version and whether a software update is available. If an update is available, touch the Update Now button; eSommelier will download and install the software update automatically. A reboot is often necessary after a software update. In this case, eSommelier will reboot automatically.

An active Internet connection is required for the Update feature.
Tools
The Tools Menu lets you configure eSommelier to your preferences. You will be shown a numbered list of Tools options. To select an option, enter the number of the option you want to select, then press "Enter" on the on-screen keyboard. You can also use the up and down arrows to select these Tools:

The Tools menu contains most of eSommelier's setup procedures.
- Manage Configuration File: This tool allows viewing or editing of the system configuration file, and addition or deletion of custom keys. It is meant for your system integrator and should not be altered except by a professional.
- Set Date and Time: Choose this option to set the region where the eSommelier is operated. The date and time will be automatically updated via the Internet.
- Set Screen Saver Timeout: eSommelier has a screen saver function to protect the LCD display and conserve energy. You can set how many minutes of inactive use will trigger the screen saver. Enter a number of minutes and touch Enter.
- Temperature and Humidity Sensors: If you're using the optional sensor, this Tool will allow you to enable it, and also set the temperature and humidity thresholds. If the cellar environment moves outside of the designated range, eSommelier will sound an audible alert. Make sure you have the volume turned up on your unit to hear the alert.
- Wine Collection Management: This section contains tools to download a collection from an Excel spreadsheet, as well as customize the appearance of the barcode labels, print large batches of barcode labels, delete all the bottles in your collection, or your entire collection.
- Master eSommelier Setup: If you're using more than one eSommelier unit, this option lets you define the IP or DNS address of the "master unit"
- eRobertParker Setup: Use this tool to enter your username and password for your eRobertParker.com account.
- Install Beta Version: As new "beta" versions of the eSommelier software become available, your system administrator may want to try them out. If there's a new beta available, choose this option and it will begin to download.
- VNC Password: eSommelier can be operated from other computers in your home network. In order to access the eSommelier user interface from another computer, eSommelier has a VNC (Virtual Network Computing) server which can be accessed with any VNC viewer. VNC viewers are freely distributed on the Internet for Windows, Macintosh and Linux computers. You can also download one from the support page at http://www.eSommelier.net. The password you enter there is the password that you'll need to enter when using the VNC viewer to access eSommelier.
- Shutdown/Reboot: When you make system changes to eSommelier, you'll want to reboot the system so that the changes take effect. Touch or scroll to this selection and you'll see an option to reboot or shut down eSommelier.
- Network: This menu option shows the current network settings. If DHCP is enabled, all IP settings will be automatically obtained from the DHCP server on your network. If static IP information is required, disable DHCP by touching the button, and then enter the IP setting suitable for your network. Touch "Apply Changes" to save and activate your new settings.
- Support: This button connects your eSommelier to the factory Support Server. This allows eSommelier technicians to perform remote diagnostics and repairs when necessary.
- Calibrate: Touch this menu option to begin the calibration process that customizes eSommelier to your touch. If you find that your unit is not responding properly to your touch even after calibration, reboot the machine by powering off and then powering back on again.
